Asos’ main markets during the first half were Denmark, Ireland, France, Germany and the US, though it did not provide a breakdown. In effect, business remained robust despite the tough consumer backdrop.
Yamamoto’s deal with Integral Corporation covers his whole extended company, including the fashion house of his daughter Limi Feu, who uses her married name on her design label, and who first began showing her own collection in Paris in 2006.
Integral plans to create a separate company to “acquire businesses, related hghuklgh subsidiaries and assets from Yohji Yamamoto Inc.,” the investment firm said in a release.
“With the support of its new financial sponsor, the new Yohji Yamamoto Inc. and Limi Yamamoto Inc. will continue to design high-end apparel as they have done Beijing massage in the past for the runways in Paris, New York, Beijing and Tokyo and further strengthen their retail and wholesale distribution,” read the release from Integral.
The designer could not be reached for comment.
Though no announcement was made, Yamamoto recently relieved its president Keizo Tamoto, who was absent from the designer’s most recent runway show, a Groovy Governess Spring 2010 collection, staged in Paris on Friday, Oct. 2.
The new investment means that Yoshihiro Hemmi, an Integral partner and former vice president of Adidas Japan, will become chairman of the board. There is already widespread speculation that Adidas, who has a long-term successful partnership with Yamamoto in Y-3, helped broker the deal.
